PasteWords ("we", "our", or "the Service") is a file-sharing platform that prioritizes your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our service.

2. Data We Collect

When you use PasteWords, we collect minimal data:

• checkFiles: Files you upload are stored temporarily on our servers
• checkRoom Keys: Automatically generated two-word identifiers
• checkMetadata: File names, sizes, upload timestamps, and download status
• checkOptional Data: Passphrase hashes (if you choose to lock a room)

We do NOT collect: Personal information, email addresses, IP addresses, tracking cookies, or any identifiable user data.

3. How We Use Your Data

• checkTo provide file storage and sharing functionality
• checkTo enable file downloads via room keys
• checkTo enforce automatic deletion policies (30 days or after first download)
• checkTo verify passphrases for locked rooms

We do NOT use your data for marketing, advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond providing the core file-sharing service.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• checkAll files are automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity
• checkFiles can be set to delete immediately after the first download
• checkRoom keys and associated metadata are deleted when all files are deleted
• checkDeleted files are permanently removed and cannot be recovered

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your files:

• checkFiles are stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Convex)
• checkPassphrases are hashed and never stored in plain text
• checkRoom keys are randomly generated and difficult to guess
• checkHTTPS encryption is used for all data transfers

6. Third-Party Services

PasteWords uses Convex for backend infrastructure and file storage. Your files are subject to Convex's security and privacy practices. We do not share your files with any other third parties.

7. Your Responsibilities

• checkKeep your room keys and passphrases secure and private
• checkOnly share room keys with intended recipients
• checkDo not upload illegal, harmful, or infringing content
• checkUnderstand that anyone with the room key can access your files (unless passphrase-protected)

8. No User Accounts

PasteWords does not require or support user accounts. This means:

• checkYou cannot retrieve lost room keys
• checkYou cannot recover deleted files
• checkYou cannot manage multiple uploads from a dashboard
• checkThere is no way to identify who uploaded specific files

9. Children's Privacy

PasteWords is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used our service, please note that all files are automatically deleted after 30 days.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
